Friends of Lake Gwelup
What we do...
The Friends of Lake Gwelup are involved in a number of activities around the lake.
Monthly Busy Bees
Once a month we get together to do some weeding or planting around different parts of the lake. There is some socialising thrown in there too.
Our monthly busy bees are a great chance to meet others in the group and to do something positive for the community. It's also a great opportunity to learn from people who have lived in this area or worked in this field for decades. There is a wealth of incredible knowledge in a Friends Group.
Busy Bees run from 8.45am - 11am. You do not have to come to every session and you do not have to stay for the entire time.
It's all about enjoying the great outdoors and being part of the community. We meet at the Wanstead entrance to the reserve. You can see out meeting spot on the image adjacent.
Nature Walks
David Pike leads guided monthly nature walks around the reserve.
David is an extremely knowledgeable local naturalist.
Join him for a very enjoyable and informative walk around the reserve.
These walks are free as David volunteers his time every month to run them. He actually runs similar monthly walks at Trigg Bushland and Star Swamp bushland, so he's knowledgable and generous with his time.
The guided nature walks are run on the 3rd Saturday of every month, rain or shine. The walks begin at 8am and the meeting point is the Karrinyup Scout Hall. The hall is located at 45 Huntriss Rd.
